Home Empowerment Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conduct initial assessment with individuals/families seeking Home Empowerment Programs such as homebuyer, financial capability and foreclosure programs.

General Responsibilities

1) Provide a variety of group and/or individual education for pre-purchase, financial capability, foreclosure prevention and applicable areas.

2) Protect the privacy of customers and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.

Specific Duties

1) Conduct triage/assessment of prospective Home Empowerment Customers to determine which service track is appropriate.

2) Enter all prospective customers into CounselorMax database.

3) Provide group and/or individualized education either in person or over the phone.

4) Complete data entry for Home Empowerment Programs to include multiple databases.

5) Assist in ensuring integrity of electronic data.

6) Complete billings as applicable for Home Empowerment Programs.

7) Utilize Step Forward database to assist customers toward a positive resolution of their housing hardship.

8) Conduct follow-up on Home Empowerment customers to determine outcomes.

9) Attend community meetings and events as needed to support agency programs.

10) Participate in personal and professional development activities.

11) Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Additional Requirements:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Associate’s Degree in business/marketing or human service field. Equivalent experiences considered.

2) Customer Service experience.

3) Knowledge of credit, financial issues and the homeownership process. MSHDA Counseling Certification within 9 months of employment.

4) Good customer relation skills.

5) Ability to work independently and keep accurate records.

6) Ability to enter data into multiple databases accurately.

7) Proficiency with math and calculations.

8) Must have proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)

9) Knowledgeable of delivering quality programs in a multi service setting.

10) Successful clearance of DHS Central Registry and criminal history record check.

11) Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, pass State Police criminal clearance check and MMCAA’s “Insurance Carriers” driving record review.

12) Must be self-directed and able to coordinate the completion of assigned tasks and be willing to accept new challenges on a daily basis.

13) Must comply with Agency smoke free and drug free policies.
