Early Childhood Services Regional Coordinator

Full-time hourly position available based in the Farwell Administrative Office and covering Clare, Mecosta and Osceola Counties. Regional Coordinators are responsible for the development, supervision coordination, and implementation of the Head Start program in designated area as required by the Head Start Performance Standards and state and federal mandates.


General Responsibilities

1) Responsible for the development, supervision coordination, and implementation of the Head Start program in designated area as required by the Head Start Performance Standards and state and federal mandates.

2.) Ensure quality program service delivery.

3.) Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.

Specific Duties

1) Develop and maintain procedures for documentation, multi-disciplinary team information, and tracking systems for site staff.

2.) Work closely with Assistant Director and Component Coordinators in meeting program and overall departmental monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and objectives.

3.) Complete required program documentation and record keeping in a neat and timely manner.

4.) Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities, as identified and approved by supervisors.

5.) Attend community meetings and events as needed to support the agency programs.

6) Provide direct supervision of designated site staff.

7) Assist site staff with child and family development goals utilizing a strength-based, culturally sensitive approach through reflective and case management.

8.) Assist staff in developing and enhancing nurturing relationships with the families and child’s caregiver to build rapport and support opportunities.

9.) Assist site staff in advocating for the families as deemed appropriate and make appropriate referrals and/or contact for resources with collaborating professionals and agencies.

10.) Provide technical assistance to program staff to assure proper delivery of service.

11.) Collect data and monitoring information as needed to assure quality provision and satisfy the funding source regulations.

12.) Follow hiring procedures and arrange for orientation for new site staff.

13.) Serve as liaison between site staff, families, and the management team.

14.) Perform evaluations and reviews of Educator/Teacher, and assist in the employee evaluations of their staff.

15.) Promote programs to the public and recruit families through a variety of community presentations and involvement with designated counties.

16.) All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Additional Requirements:

1) Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Education, Social Work or another related field with a minimum of 4 years working with young children and families.

2.) Infant/Toddler experience preferred.

3.) Family Service Credential preferred.

4.) At least two years supervisory experience.

5.) Must have Proficient Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)

6.) Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, pass State Police criminal clearance check and MMCAA’s “Insurance Carriers” driving record review.

7.) Successfully complete Criminal History and Child Abuse/Neglect clearance procedures at time of hire and when requested.

8.) The job duties require a working cell phone for accessibility to supervisors, clients, or co-worker or to enhance personal safety while away from the office location.

9.) Must have good communication and organizational skills, and be able to work effectively with people.

10.) Must be self-directed, multi-tasked and able to coordinate the completion of assigned tasks and be willing to accept new challenges on a daily basis.

11.) Possess a solid knowledge base with respect to child development and family services.

12.) Complete additional certification as required by continuing education plan.

13.) Ability to handle staff relations effectively, pleasantly and professionally.

14.) Must comply with the Agency smoke free and drug free policies.
