Mental Health and Disabilities Coordinator

General Responsibilities

-Responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of the Mental Health and Disabilities component as required by the Head Start Program Performance Standards and state and federal mandates.

-Ensure quality program service delivery.

-Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.

Specific Duties

-Develop and maintain procedures for documentation, multi-disciplinary team information, and tracking systems for Mental Health Services.

-Work closely with ECS Assistant Director in meeting program and overall departmental monthly, quarterly and annual goals and objectives.

-Complete required program documentation and record keeping in a neat and timely manner.

-Participate in professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities, and other training options identified and approved by supervisors.

-Train and assist staff as needed in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Mental Health components.

-Attend community meetings and events as needed to support the agency programs.

-Provide case management to service delivery staff.

-Provide reflective supervision to service delivery staff.

-Provide center and HV observations as necessary.

-Provide support and resources to families and staff in the areas of mental health.

-Data entry of component information, including assessments, individual family service plans, individual education plans and prenatal documentation.

-All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Additional Requirements:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, psychology, social work or related field with experience in children programs.

-Infant/Toddler/Preschool experience preferred.

-Family Service Credential preferred.

-Ability to work independently and keep accurate records.

-Good interpersonal relationship skills.

-Possess a solid knowledge base with respect to child development and family services and seek to expand knowledge at every opportunity.

-Complete additional certification as required by continuing education plan.

-Maintain confidentiality and code of ethics at all times.

-Must have Proficient Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).

-Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, and pass State Police criminal clearance check and MMCAA’s “Insurance Carriers” driving record review.

-Successfully complete Criminal History and DHS clearance procedures at time of hire and when requested at any time during employment.

-Shall provide written report by a physician stating their physical capability and freedom from communicable tuberculosis.
