WIC Clerk / Technician Supervisor

General Responsibilities

- Assist with the development, implementation and coordination of the overall activities for the clerk/technical area.

- Ensure quality program service delivery.

- Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of services.

Specific Duties

- Perform all clerk typing, benefit issuance and complete intake information for WIC program.

- Maintain customer MI-WIC data as required by the agency, local, state and federal regulations.

- Answer telephones, set up WIC appointments and do basic intake.

- Data input into MI WIC system.

- Provide blood level checks for lead and iron, height and weight screening, and input client data into MI-WIC system.

- Greet customers, secure necessary information, and ensure that they are processed in a timely manner.

- Responsible for implementing state WIC-EBT procedures and maintaining EIC-EBT card log.

- Assist WIC Coordinator with random MI-WIC audit reviews.

- Follow interview procedures when a staff vacancy occurs.

- Facilitate a comprehensive orientation for new staff.

- Perform 90 Day and Annual Performance Evaluations

- Supervise of clerk/technician staff.

- Maintain stock inventory logs including formula and lab materials/equipment.

- Be supportive to breastfeeding mothers and refer as needed for problem solving/support.

- Make necessary referrals based on customer/family needs.

- Document nutrition education completed by education boards/wichealth.org secondary education.

- Verify Medicaid eligibility as needed.

- Run/check immunization status of child by use of Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR).

- Participate in personal and professional activities.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field or Business Management preferred.

- Will consider Associates degree with supervisory experience.

- Must be familiar with various data collection systems and techniques.

Additional Requirements

- Must have proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)

- Must be accurate with attention to detail and possess problem-solving skills.

- Able to learn basic phlebotomy procedures.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks and relate to customers/families effectively and pleasantly.

- Maintain confidentiality and code of ethics at all times.

- Must have Proficient Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)

- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, and MMCAA’s “Insurance Carriers” driving record review.

- Successfully complete Criminal History and Child Abuse/Neglect clearance procedures at time of hire and when requested.

- Shall provide written report by a physician stating their physical capability and freedom from communicable tuberculosis.

- Must have good communication and organizational skills, and be able to work effectively with people.

- Must be self-directed and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

- Must possess the ability to prioritize and complete tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within
allocated time frames.

- Must be willing to accept new challenges.

- The ability to navigate and effectively resolve conflict.

- Must comply with Agency tobacco free and drug free policies.

- Understand the importance of daily work attendance, and its impact on coworkers, clients, and the agency
