Families gather for a day of free fishing

The time is here again for Mid Michigan Community Action’s Fishing with My Family, a free event that brings families together for an exciting day of activities such as fishing, games, prizes and more.

This year’s event will be held Saturday, June 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Latimer Park in Morley.

“This is an excellent opportunity for families to spend time outside together,” said MMCAA Early Childhood Services director, Joleen Golden. “The event is primarily focused on fatherhood involvement, but we encourage the entire family to join in on the fun.”

Families can participate in activities, compete in the fishing contest, receive information about educational and community resources or simply enjoy free food and prizes.

“It’s a very neat experience for the kids, and they have a great time,” Golden said. “It’s always great to see their faces when they catch their first fish.”

The event is free for the entire family and no fishing license is required. A limited supply of bait and poles will be available on a first come first serve basis.

This event is made possible through the generous support of the Village of Morley, United Way and community partners.
