Residents of Clare County and the surrounding areas are invited to a free community celebration for children and families. Mid Michigan Community Action and over 20 businesses and organizations will offer free food, games, face painting and entertainment.
Fun Day in the Park will take place Friday, June 22, at Shamrock Park in Clare from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Children can keep busy with music, activities and giveaways.
“It’s wonderful to see families from the community come out and enjoy the day together,” said Joleen Golden, Mid Michigan Community Action Early Childhood Services director.
Participants can visit booths in a stress-free environment to learn how they can access community resources. Open enrollment for Early Head Start and preschool will be available through Mid Michigan Community Action and Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency.
“Our goal is for everyone to have fun and for the parents to walk away with information and knowledge about resources that are available to them,” Golden said.
Big Brother Big Sister will be giving away Frisbees to families and children. Isabella Bank will also hold a bike raffle while the Fields Neuroscience Center of Saginaw will be giving away helmets.
The Clare Masonic Lodge will be providing the MI-CHIP service. This service allows parents to create a child ID packet that includes their child’s fingerprints, picture, video and other vital information.
“We’re extremely grateful that we can offer free events like this one,” Golden said. “I can’t thank the sponsors and organizations enough for taking the time to come out and contribute to our community.”
Fun Day in the Park is hosted by Mid Michigan Community Action Agency with support from Clare United Way and many community partners.
