Nature Art with Early Head Start

What is Nature Art? | Events | Gallery | Early Head Start

Connecting Creativity, Nature, and Child Development

Nature Art is an initiative of our Early Head Start program designed to bring families together through hands-on, creative play using materials found in nature. Whether it's leaves, sticks, pinecones, flowers, or stones, we believe the outdoors offers endless inspiration for little artists and their caregivers.

These activities are not only fun, they also support children's development, encourage bonding, and spark learning through exploration. It’s all about building school readiness while creating meaningful memories.

Nature Art is about more than just art, it’s about:
  • Supporting early development through creative exploration
  • Offering families time to connect and engage
  • Helping children build school readiness skills in a fun, accessible way
  • Celebrating each child’s creativity

Our Community Events

Throughout the year, we'll be hosting Nature Art events. These events invite families to try fun nature-themed art activities in a welcoming, family-friendly setting. When you attend in person, staff are on hand to guide projects and provide tips so families can keep the creativity going at home, but we also offer virtual participation because we understand busy schedules!

After each event, we share participants’ creations to celebrate our budding artists and highlight the power of playful learning.

Want to join in? Check our Events page to see if an upcoming Nature Art event is planned near you. Even if one isn't listed now, we’re always planning new activities, so keep checking back!
Events

Gallery

Families from across our communities come together through our Nature Art with Early Head Start events to celebrate creativity, connection, and the simple joy of exploring the outdoors.

See our little learners’ artwork from each event below.

Nature Art with Early Head Start, February 2026

Families gathered for a nature art event hosted in partnership with Evart Public District Library. Children and caregivers created art together using natural materials and simple craft supplies.

Artwork from the event was later displayed at Ebels General Store, giving families a chance to see their creations featured in the community.

Nature Art with Early Head Start, November 2025

Families created nature-inspired artwork together using leaves, twigs, stones, and flowers. In partnership with Artworks! Big Rapids, these creations were displayed in the Alley Gallery throughout November.

Families who couldn’t attend the event were also invited to submit artwork created at home so more children could be part of the gallery.
