Community Events

We host a variety of events throughout the year—from activities for children and families to community gatherings that offer valuable resources, connections, and support.

All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
  • 2/4/26 Warm Your Heart with Early Head Start in Beaverton
Join us for a cozy morning of story time, music and movement, and hands-on fun with Early Head Start! Families will enjoy a special story time with library staff, a snack, and a heart-themed craft. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, connect with other local families, and meet our Early Head Start team while learning more about the program.​

  • 2/6/26 Polar Party
Bundle up for some winter fun at our Polar Party! Families are invited to enjoy a cozy dance party in fuzzy socks, explore winter sensory activities, build with marshmallows, and gather for a winter-themed story time. This playful event is a great chance to spend time together, meet our Head Start Preschool staff, and learn more about the programs and resources available for young children and families.​

  • 2/12/26 Warm Your Heart with Early Head Start in Gladwin
Warm up with us for a fun and family-friendly morning with Early Head Start! Families are invited to enjoy story time with library staff, music and movement activities, a snack, and a heart-themed craft. Get creative with winter nature art! Families will use snow and natural materials to create artwork, take a photo, and share it for a chance to be featured locally—while connecting with Early Head Start staff and other families.

  • 2/18/26 Snowflake Story Time in Farwell
Families are invited to join us for Snowflake Storytime at Surrey Township Library! We’ll be reading the classic story Corduroy followed by a fun craft activity inspired by the book. This event is a great way to enjoy special time together, connect with other local families, and meet our Head Start Preschool staff while learning more about the programs and resources available for young children and families.

  • 2/27/26 A Taste of Togetherness: A Cooking and Literacy Experience with Early Head Start and Friends
Families are invited to enjoy a hands-on cooking and literacy experience centered on connection and creativity. Together, families will make friendship bread, enjoy a shared story about friendship, and take home a copy of Making Friends.

While the bread bakes, families can join in a dance party, build snowmen with playdough, and create friendship bracelets before coming together to enjoy the bread they made. This event offers a fun, welcoming way to spend time as a family, connect with other families, and engage with Early Head Start staff and community partners.

  • 4/22/26​ Play, Plant, Grow!
Join us for a cheerful spring planting activity with our Head Start Preschool team! Little ones will get hands-on experience planting seeds while enjoying time outdoors, connecting with other families, and learning alongside our caring staff. It’s a fun, simple way to explore nature, nurture curiosity, and watch your child’s love of learning grow.

  • 4/30/26 Head Start Preschool Open House in Clare
Join us for a welcoming Preschool Open House where families can explore the classroom, meet our caring Head Start Preschool staff, and learn about all the ways we support children and families. This is a great chance to ask questions, connect with other local families, and see whether Head Start Preschool is the right fit for your child.

If you plan to complete an application at the event, please bring your child’s birth certificate and health insurance card, your driver’s license or ID, a SNAP benefits letter (if applicable), and income information from the last 12 months.

Join us for Fun Day in the Park with a focus on STEAM—science, technology, engineering, art, and math—through fun, hands-on activities for young children and their families. Kids will explore, build, create, and play while learning together in simple, age-appropriate ways. Families can enjoy time together, meet our staff, and connect with others in the community while discovering how play helps children learn and grow.
