Policy Council

Policy Council is a group of parents, guardians, and staff who work together to help guide our Head Start Preschool and Early Head Start programs.

Members share ideas, review plans, and help make decisions so children receive the best education and experience possible. If your child is enrolled in our Preschool or Early Head Start programs, you’re invited to be part of Policy Council and have a voice in how our programs grow.

How to Join Policy Council

Parents and guardians of children enrolled in our Preschool and Early Head Start programs are eligible for Policy Council.

Those interested in joining Policy Council should contact Katelynn at
989-386-3805 ext. 1052 or [email protected] or Vicki at 989-386-3805 ext. 1057 or [email protected]

Why Join Policy Council?

Image is a quote on a purple background with a wreath of fall leaves and acorns:
"I was very nervous at first because I was not sure what to expect. I’m very glad I tried it out. This is a wonderful group of people who truly care about our children.

"Being involved with Policy Council has given me confidence that my children are in a great program, and I get to be a part of that foundation. I have met some amazing people, made some great friends and connections.
"It does not matter our walk of life, Policy Council is all about encouragement and support to better our children’s education. Policy Council offers a judgement free zone where you can feel free to share your thoughts and ideas with those who help shape these programs for our children.

"I highly recommend trying it out since there is no commitment unless you want to be more involved. Who knows what differences you can make in a child’s life by being involved," said Nikki, a parent and Policy Council member.
