Congratulations to Meagan, one of our April featured employees!

Meagan is our WIC Nutrition Educator and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics. Her position includes developing nutrition education materials and providing maternal and child nutrition information and education.

We were able to speak with her about what inspires her in her work, and this is what she had to say:

​"I love being able to work for a 
company with so many like-minded individuals and being able to come to work each day knowing I am helping someone in need!"

Heather, our Head Start Coach, is one of our March Featured Employees
Congratulations to Heather, one of our March featured employees!

Heather has been with the Agency for 13 years. We spoke with her about what keeps her passionate about her work and this is what she had to say:

"I love building relationships with teachers and working with children. I love finding solutions to
new problems and helping people meet their goals. I love making a difference, no matter how small.

"I love being free to be creative and think outside the box. I love that I can make my position what it needs to be to best support the teaching staff in the classrooms who bring learning to life every day. I love supporting those that support our future."

Heather is our Head Start Coach and Mentor. She holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Studies, a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Major in Child Development, and is working towards her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Johnny, Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector, is a February Featured Employee
Congratulations to Johnny, a February featured employee!

Johnny is an Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector whose position includes identifying opportunities for energy savings through data analysis, visual inspection, and use of diagnostic tools on clients' homes, and performing quality control inspections on completed weatherization work.
​We were able to speak with Johnny about what he likes about working at the agency, and this is what he had to say:

"I work within a field that I enjoy learning about daily. We have a great team that I enjoy partnering with to achieve our goals. The hours allow me to be home with my family during moments I had become used to missing in my previous employment."

Johnny is certified as a Building Analyst Professional, Energy Auditor, and Quality Control Inspector through the Building Performance Institute.

Congratulations to one of our November featured employees: Kristi!

​​Kristi is an Associate Teacher with our Preschool Head Start program, which means she works as part of a classroom teaching team to support enrolled families and give our preschoolers a strong foundation to grow academically as well as physically, socially, and emotionally.

We were able to speak with Kristi about what she likes about working at the agency, and this is what she had to say:

"So much! I love what our agency does for families and our communities. Personally I’m drawn to the preschool side of things, but I’m proud to be a part of Mid Michigan Community Action Agency as a whole.

"My ECE [Early Childhood Education] coworkers are so supportive and all around fantastic, and the kiddos are always super fun and entertaining. Everyday is something new and there is never a dull moment in preschool."

​We asked Kathy what her favorite part of working at The Cat's Meow of Mid Michigan Community Action is, and this is what she had to say:

"What I like about working at the store is the camaraderie! I've been with the store for over ten years, and my favorite part of my job is my team."

As the retail team lead, Kathy is responsible for tasks like pricing, stocking, and managing the intake of merchandise.

Janeen is a Lead Teacher with our Head Start Preschool program. She has a bachelor’s degree in education with an early childhood endorsement.

We had a chance to talk to Janeen about what she liked best about working here, and this is what she had to say:
"I love how everyone is like a big family and cares about each other. Helping our families and working with the children makes this job such a great reward!"

She is responsible for executing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, providing activities to meet required components of the Service Delivery Plan, and enhancing the physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth of young children.

Congratulations to our July featured employee, Colleen!

We asked Colleen what she loved about working at The Cat’s Meow of Mid Michigan Community Action, and this is what she had to say:

“Working for this local non-profit has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve had. The best part of my job is assisting people in our communities that are in need. As heartbreaking as it is at times, it is 
also gratifying to know that we make a difference in people’s lives.

“I have met many wonderful people and formed personal relationships with them and area businesses in our community over the years. I am grateful to have had this opportunity to be a part of making The Cat’s Meow store what it is today.”

As the thrift store manager since 2008, she oversees the daily operations of the store and has watched it become a designated stop for area thrifters whether they're interested in our vintage items, furniture, local art, boutique, or anything in between.

Justin, our Housing Services Director, is one of our June Featured Employees
Congratulations to one of our June Featured Employees: Justin, our Housing Services Director!

As Housing Director, Justin manages our Agency facilities team as well as teams that administer housing-related programs, including weatherization, a service that aims to make homes more energy efficient to pass energy savings costs on to the residents.
We were able to meet up with Justin virtually to talk about what he likes best about working at the Agency, and this is what he had to say:

"Mid Michigan Community Action has afforded me the opportunity to make a difference within my community. I have the privilege of collaborating with clients and staff to deliver energy efficiency, home repair, home rehabilitation, and more services to residents across Mid Michigan. Working with my team to help strengthen our communities leaves me with a sense of fulfillment each day!"
